About the ACC

The American Chemistry Council supports the researchers and innovators who answer those questions. Our goal is to understand every side of a problem and work toward viable solutions.

Since 1872, our member companies have set goals and guidelines that go above and beyond federal regulations. Our Responsible Care® initiative has led to the reduction of overall emissions by 73 percent since 1988, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 16 percent since 1990 (exceeding the Kyoto Protocol target), and a safety record that is four times better than the average of the U.S. manufacturing sector.

Service to our local communities and the employment of 850,000 people nationwide continues to drive us. With more than 96% of all manufactured goods touched by the products of chemistry, it's easy to see why we are a vital part of our nation's economy.
